- UTCP 1.1 discovery and native tool calls
Native tool-calling libraries · Official-source review 2026-10-09
Ruby UTCP implements Universal Tool Calling Protocol 1.1 for discovering, storing and calling tools directly over their native transports. It provides structured call templates, authentication and protocol-specific errors.
Useful for Ruby developers integrating tool discovery and calls into an agent.
Core and eleven transports support Ruby 2.6 or later; the optional default WebRTC backend requires Ruby 3.1 and libdatachannel. Calls are synchronous. Mixed-protocol manuals require an explicit allow-list; default network response budget is 100 MiB. Compatibility and security behavior were not hands-on tested. GitHub hosting prices do not price this library.
Read the Ruby examples, allow only required transports and test one safe endpoint with explicit response and credential limits before connecting production tools.
